Jenna Hyer, DDS, MS
Dr. Jenna Hyer was born in Saskatchewan, Canada and moved to Montana at a young age. She maintains her dual citizenship, but grew up in Whitefish, Montana and considers it home. Dr. Hyer received her Bachelor’s in Science Degree in Cell Biology and Neuroscience from Montana State University. Dr. Hyer earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, and graduated with honors, being inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. She continued her training with a three-year residency at the University of Texas Health at San Antonio where she received her Certificate in Periodontics as well as a Master of Science degree. Her graduate research on digital detection of dental calculus was published in the Journal of Periodontology, and led to a finalist position in the John F. Prichard Graduate Research Competition.
Dr. Hyer has training in dental implants, bone grafting, laser therapy, advanced periodontal procedures, and oral and IV sedation. She especially enjoys esthetic procedures such as crown lengthening and gingival grafting. Dr. Hyer stays up to date with current periodontal and surgical procedures and is consistent with continuing education and new techniques. Dr. Hyer is board certified periodontist and serves as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Hyer enjoys traveling and her goal is to go to more countries than her age (so far, keeping up!) She has spent time practicing dentistry in Central America and plans to continue giving back throughout her career. In addition to travel, she enjoys hiking, skiing, painting, and spending time with her family and friends. After practicing for five years in the Denver area, Dr. Hyer is very happy to be back home in Montana with her husband Brian, their one year old daughter Lila, and their dog Novocaine (Nova.) She looks forward to meeting you!

Board Certified Periodontist
Dr. Jim Hoag was born in California where his father was serving in the Navy Dental Corps. He was raised in Aurora, Illinois where is father practiced as a periodontist. The family moved to Alton, Illinois in the early 1970’s where his dad eventually became the associate dean of SIU dental school. After high school, Dr. Hoag ventured out to Missoula, MT where he received his BS in Microbiology and met his future bride. (The latter being his most precious blessing.) Dr. Hoag returned to the cement jungle of downtown Chicago where he became a 3rd generation graduate of Northwestern University Dental School. ( His father was class of 1963 and his grandfather was class of 1926). Following graduation and following in the family footsteps, Dr. Hoag was commissioned in the US Navy Dental Corps where he served as a general dentist in California, Scotland, and South Carolina. He was then accepted for his periodontal residency at the Navy Post-Graduate School in Bethesda, Maryland followed by 3 years at the US Navy Yard, Washington DC. His dream was finally realized when he and his family were welcomed back to Montana by the local dentist in Flathead, Sanders, and Lake counties. He and his wife established this private practice in July 2000.
Dr. Hoag reflects that any success he accomplished is attributed to his long time serving staff, supporting dental offices, and most importantly the patients that become like friends putting a smile on his face and lifting his spirits. He is forever grateful that he crossed paths with Dr. Jenna Hyer. He immediately knew that by extension, Dr. Hyer would become the next generation. “Our scribbled initials are nearly identical.” Dr. Hoag’s retirement plans involve longer bike rides, exploring new rivers to fish, and skiing with his grandchildren.

Registered Dental Hygienist
I was born and raised in the Flathead Valley and quickly appreciated how wonderful Montana is when I left for college. I earned a Bachelors of Science degree in dental hygiene at Eastern Washington University in 2004. After graduation I immediately returned home and worked for a family dental office for 9 years prior to coming to this office, where I have been for over 12 years. My career passion is treating periodontal disease and maintaining my patients’ oral health. I love seeing the improvements our treatment has done for our patients.
My husband and I have three wonderful children; two adult daughters and a son who is in high school. When I’m not driving my son around to various activities, I enjoy being outdoors on warm days, rafting & camping. In the winter I like to snuggle up with a good book if we’re not up on the mountain skiing.

Patient Care Coordinator
Jennifer grew up in Germany and was an Air Force brat in her younger years. She has lived in the Flathead Valley for 25 years, and worked in the dental field for almost 28 years (mostly in periodontics with Dr. Hoag). She enjoys traveling, going to concerts, and camping/boating with her husband and son.

I’m a proud parent of two wonderful children who live, work, and attend school here in the beautiful Flathead Valley, which has been our home for over 20 years. Outside of work, I have a passion for the outdoors - being on the lake, camping, or hiking. I take great pride in the work I do alongside my team. My goal is always to take my responsibilities seriously so that your experience with us is not only comfortable but also enjoyable!
