A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth that is damaged, decayed, or causing crowding. Extractions can be simple or surgical, depending on the tooth’s condition and position.
-
When teeth are removed, the jaw bone will naturally shrink in both height and width. This can make tooth replacement, such as with a dental implant, more challenging or impossible. To circumvent this, a bone graft can be placed into a tooth socket at the time of tooth extraction. This bone graft is commonly a human bone material, and will help preserve the bone where a tooth has been removed.
-
Dental implants are predictable and successful replacements for natural teeth. Sometimes, an implant can be placed at the time of the tooth extraction. Other times, bone grafting is needed before an implant can be placed. Implants are most often made out of a biocompatible material, titanium, but there are other materials also available. A prosthetic crown, bridge, or denture can be attached to an implant after it has healed. Implants look, feel, and function very much like natural teeth.

This procedure rebuilds or adds bone in the upper jaw (sinus lift) or along the ridge of the jaw (ridge augmentation) to create a stable foundation for dental implants.
Gum Disease Care
Our gum care treatments focus on preventing, diagnosing, and treating gum disease to protect both your teeth and overall oral health. From gentle cleanings and deep periodontal therapy to advanced treatments for gum recession or infection, we provide personalized care to restore comfort and prevent future issues. With a proactive approach and modern techniques, we help keep your gums strong, your smile bright, and your health on track.
-
This non-surgical procedure removes plaque and tartar from below the gumline and smooths the tooth roots to promote healing. It helps control gum disease and prevents further damage to the gums and bone.
-
Periodontal maintenance is an ongoing cleaning program designed for patients who have been treated for gum disease. These visits are typically scheduled every 3–4 months and focus on removing plaque and tartar buildup below the gumline, monitoring gum health, and preventing the recurrence or progression of periodontal disease.
-
Periodontal surgery treats advanced gum disease by reducing pocket depths, reshaping gum tissue, and regenerating bone or gum where possible. The goal is to restore healthy gum and bone support for the teeth.
Surgical Therapy
Our surgical therapy services are designed to restore the health, function, and appearance of your gums and supporting tissues. We offer gum grafting to cover exposed roots, reduce sensitivity, and enhance the smile’s aesthetics; crown lengthening to reshape the gum and bone around teeth for improved function, restorative treatment, or a more balanced smile; and biopsies to carefully evaluate any areas of concern for accurate diagnosis and peace of mind. Each procedure is performed with precision and care, ensuring both your comfort and long-term oral health.
-
Gingival grafting is a procedure done to treat areas with inadequate gum tissue and exposed roots. These areas can be sensitive to cold, and are at risk of root decay, and continued progression. Donor tissue is from the patient or a tissue bank, and the goal is to improve both function, health, and appearance.
-
Crown lengthening is a precise periodontal procedure that reshapes the gum and bone around a tooth to expose more of its natural structure. This treatment is often recommended to help with restorative needs, such as placing a crown or filling when too little tooth is visible above the gumline. Crown lengthening may also be performed for cosmetic reasons, improving a “gummy smile” by creating a more balanced and natural-looking gumline. At our office, we perform crown lengthening with careful attention to both function and aesthetics, ensuring healthy results that support your long-term oral health.
-
A biopsy involves removing a small sample of oral tissue to be examined under a microscope. It helps diagnose conditions such as infections, growths, or oral cancers.
Sedation & Adjunct
To ensure comfort and enhance healing, our practice offers specialized sedation and adjunctive therapies tailored to each patient’s needs. With oral sedation and IV sedation, we provide safe and effective options to help ease anxiety and make treatment more relaxed and stress-free. For advanced healing support, we also utilize Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF), a natural concentration of your body’s own growth factors that promotes faster recovery and improved outcomes after periodontal procedures. These services allow us to deliver care that is not only effective but also comfortable and supportive of long-term oral health.
-
Sedation dentistry helps patients feel calm and comfortable during treatment. Oral sedation is given in pill form, while IV sedation is administered through a vein for deeper relaxation.
-
PRF uses a small sample of your own blood to create a natural concentrate rich in healing factors. It is applied during procedures to speed recovery, reduce swelling, and promote tissue and bone regeneration.

Reviews from our patients

“Dr. Hyer is the best. I had been considering a crown lengthening procedure for years but was always too nervous. At our first appointment, she assessed my situation, explained the process in detail, and set clear expectations for recovery. The procedure itself was so much easier than I imagined—quick, painless, and exactly as she described. My recovery went smoothly, and I can’t thank her enough. She’s amazing!”

“Dr. Jenna Hyer performed my gum graft and did an excellent job. During the process, she explained the procedure thoroughly and answered all my questions, was kind and compassionate and followed up afterwards to check on my recovery. I would highly recommend Dr. Hyer for your periodontal needs.”
